• Leftist Fear Tactics (Video)

I heard about these Canadian made workplace safety videos last night on Glenn Beck. He was referencing them with is guest Jonah Goldberg, author of Liberal Fascism who just tore the left for their scare tactics on certain topics to get the lefty’s base to come together. I can’t find in the transcript why he was referencing them but they’re after the quote below the fold.

That’s right. Here’s my favorite quote — sorry to interrupt but I mean, I think you’ll get it. Hillary Clinton said in a speech in 1996, a major address, you know, that was written in advance. She used this line and similar circumstances elsewhere. But she says we as a country need to move beyond the idea that there’s anything, there’s any such thing as someone else’s child. Now, I’m sorry. My child is my child and my wife’s child, maybe her child and my child, but it is not the State’s child, it is not the collective child, it is not the community’s child. I’m glad for their help sometimes when necessary, but the idea that our children aren’t our own is the fundamental driving impulse of all of the isms of the left, progressivism, fascism, Naziism, communism. All of them sought to crack the outer shell of the nuclear family and get control of the children. Woodrow Wilson says the chief job of an educator is to make — and he says this to parents — your children as little like you as possible. That is the agenda and that is still the agenda that we have today.

WARNING – DISTURBING VIDEO BELOW THE FOLD!

The WSIB knows that the workplace is one of the most important places in our lives. It is a place for growth, for challenge and for fun. But it can also be a dangerous place. We want to make everyone aware of the dangers and issues surrounding workplace safety.

  1. Holy freakin’ cow! This is so typical of communists working to scare the crap out of you so they can get control! I am so sure that companies are so stupid to put their employees at risk like this not to mention putting their companies at risk for liabilities. Good grief! Yes, accidents happen! Life happens! More accidents happen in the kitchen. Who do we blame for that?

Here’s what I took from these videos:

    1) Workplace safety is still an issue, even in countries with fairly stringent workplace safety regulations.

    2) Workplace safety is the responsibility of both the employer and the employee.

No Compromises ^ reads a communist plot into this. In my view, the simple fact is that if left to their own devices most people would cut corners wherever they could, and if this meant a few more “accidents”, so be it. The balancing act is between government oversight and regulation and fostering responsibility for both employers and employees.

I don’t quite get the scare tactics title, though, Ed. What do you see as the motivator by the WSIB for trying to scare people – safety of employees in Ontario or world domination of leftist regimes?

Come on. The fear tactics come into to play when you watch those freakin’ scary ass commercials. The government doesn’t need to tell us what, when, how to do anything. They can’t even handle simple things. The videos are produced for the Canadian government agency it shows at the end. The post comes from the idea that without the government controlling you, you will fall off a ladder and get your shit broken. It was said tongue in cheek.
